2025 RhizoKids Conference
The RhizoKids International Annual Conference
This conference unites families of children with RCDP and provides a platform for leading scientists and clinicians to share their latest research and advancements in the field.
Date:
July 22-26, 2025
Location:
Children’s Harbor
434 Children’s Harbor Drive
Eclectic, AL 36024
Since its founding, RhizoKids International has understood that some of the most impactful research on Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata (RCDP) requires direct, long-term engagement with the children and families affected by the condition. To support this mission, RhizoKids International hosts an annual conference in Alabama that brings together families, researchers, and medical experts from around the world.
The conference offers families the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and contribute to vital research efforts. RhizoKids International provides all meals and access to internationally recognized RCDP specialists. Lodging is generously provided by Children’s Harbor through a grant made possible by private donations. The only cost to families is their travel to and from the event.
Families from as far as Australia, Scotland, and Canada have attended, while experts have traveled from places like Austria and the Netherlands. Throughout the conference, leading scientists present their latest research findings and conduct in-depth interviews with each family to gather medical histories. Each child with RCDP also receives a personalized medical examination from a team of renowned specialists, including:
-
Dr. Nancy Braverman (McGill University, Canada), Medical Liaison for RhizoKids International
-
Dr. Mike Bober (A.I. duPont Hospital for Children)
-
Hong Brereton (Johns Hopkins University)
-
Dr. Joe Hacia (University of Southern California)
This annual gathering is a cornerstone of RCDP research and a source of hope, connection, and collaboration for families and professionals alike.
